March 2009, Yosemite Valley, California
Yosemite Valley has no less than 4 world-class waterfalls which flow year-round. Bridalveil, seen here, is actually the smallest of the four at 617 feet. Nonetheless, it is still twice the height of Niagara Falls. In the middle of winter when I shot this image the water flow is naturally at its lowest. In the background are the beautiful snow-capped Cathedral Spires.
Winter is my favorite season for visiting Yosemite due to the lack of suffocating crowds and the crystal clear air. Yes, even in Yosemite Valley pollution has become an issue, but mostly during the summer months. Encroaching urbanization is certainly a contributor to the hazy summer skies, but forest fires are every bit as egregious.
