At the base of Half Dome.
January 1988, Yosemite National Park, California
I had already climbed Half Dome twice before and had talked with Lenée about taking her up with me someday. We never did make the ascent together, but no doubt the view she now has from heaven is even better than what I saw from the top of the dome.
To my Dear Lenée:
I so wanted to take you up to the top of Half Dome with me my love. Now you are strong and well, dancing on streets of pure gold. You are seeing things that I can't even imagine. Half Dome looks puny compared to the grandeur that you are now seeing and experiencing. I miss you more than words can say and long for the day that we will once again be together. I will always love you. Thank you for teaching me how to love.
