Lenée cuddling with Oswald

This is the last picture I ever took of Lenee. She died 6 days later.
This picture shows Lenée and Oswald enjoying their nightly cuddle time. Oswald is a holland lop bunny. Every night Oswald would hop over to the base of Lenée's chair and wait for her to pick him up. She would carefully lay out towels and blankets on her lap and then pick him up for a full hour of lovin' and petting. Oh how he looked forward to that. I don't think that most people realize what a loving pet a bunny can be.
Lenée held Oswald every night with rare exception. As she would pet him he would crunch his teeth, which is akin to a dog wagging its tail. It means you've got one very happy bunny. She would pet him until her arms simply wore out. When she stopped he would butt his head against her hand as if to say "get with the program".
Oswald is now over 11 years old and he definitely knows that mommy is missing. It just breaks my heart to watch this totally blind bunny (cataracts) wander all over the house, going from room to room in search of Lenée. He has never done this in all of his 11 years. I hold him and play with him as best I can, but he knows that something is wrong. I find him all of the time sitting at the base of her chair waiting for Lenée to pick him up. It is one of the most heart-wrenching things I've ever seen. I think Oswald misses Lenée as much as I do. Then again....
