Lenée was every bit as much an outdoorsman as myself. She hated the fact that she was trapped in a body which would not permit her to venture outside very far or often. Nonetheless she never complained. We would try and figure out ways to get her back into the wilderness that she so loved.
One such success story was here at Jalama Beach north of Santa Barbara. This beautiful county park had 2 beach buggy's designed exclusively for allowing mobility-challenged people to once again enjoy strolling on the beach. I pushed Lenée all over the sandy shores that glorious July day, and we had the time of our lives. It mattered not that we were not on the shores of Hawaii or in the remote canyons of Southern Utah. We were together, grateful for the gift of companionship with which God had blessed us.
