The water in the bottom of this image is typical of that found when hiking through slot canyons. Slot canyons are nature's drainage system, providing the only pathway for rainwater to flow into nearby washes. I hiked several slots this trip and encountered a lot of water, but never more than waste-deep. The beauty of the canyons more than makes up for the difficulty in hiking through them.
