"Rider in Little Lakes Basin"
August 2009, Eastern Sierra, California
I can't think of any better place to go horseback riding than in California's spectacular Eastern Sierra. This particular area is known as the Little Lakes Basin, and it lies about 15 miles south of Mammoth. The trailhead is just over 10,000 feet in elevation and leads you to some classic alpine scenery like that shown here. 13,600' Mt. Dade can be seen to the right.
