About 80 feet below the ruins, but not shown in this image, lies a beautiful spring-fed pool which would have provided the Anasazi with all of their fresh water requirements. The pool is quite large, perhaps 40 feet in diameter. It is also deep enough to swim in. I traveled extensively throughout the Cedar Mesa area of Utah as I searched for Indian ruins. They really new how to find those water sources and sheltered alcoves, and I soon began to realize that they apparently had no fear of heights. Obviously I have zero percent of Anasazi ancestral heritage in my blood because I was terrified every single time I entered one of their abandoned ruins.
