I received special permission from the Park Service to enter Bodie two hours before the park opened to the public. Bodie is one of my favorite places on earth, and what a joy it was to be able to shoot it during the golden hours of sunrise and sunset without having to be concerned with other people ruining my pictures. I shot this image with a large format 6x12 camera right at sunrise (6:39 am). Colors are so much richer in the so-called "golden hour" of sunrise and sunset. In reality, the golden hour is really more like the golden 5 minutes.
