Our last picture together
This is the last picture ever taken of me and Lenée together.
This picture was taken at the funeral of a dear friend. This was one of the few times Lenée got to leave the house the last 2 years of her life. This was due to the difficulties of her getting in and out of the car, or even in and out of the house for that matter. Such undertakings required a lot of energy which she simply no longer had, and caused pain which she was no longer able to endure. Nonetheless, Lenée did everything in her power to go to church every Sunday like she had done for her entire life.
Lenée's entire week was planned around getting to church. She would typically take her weekly shower on Friday, because then she would have Saturday to recuperate from that ordeal before heading out to church on Sunday. Our Sunday church services began at 10:00, so Lenée would get up at 6:00 in order to spend the three + hours it would take her to get dressed and put on her makeup. By the time she finally got to church she would be in severe pain and weakened, but it didn't matter to her because she was at church! Lenée's entire life, her every thought and deed, revolved around pleasing her Heavenly Father. I so admire her resolve and dedication to the Lord. I am a far better man for having known her.
