March 2012, Cedar Mesa, Utah
I had great difficulty finding this ruin, but persistence paid off and I finally came across it after some truly hard hiking. The ruins are tucked in an alcove approximately 15 feet above the wash. The Anasazi would have had to use ladders to gain access to the alcove. The height above ground no doubt served to protect its occupants from flash floods, predators and rival tribes.
